Minor Construction
Minor construction includes various activities that are conducted at businesses and homes. Plumbing, tile cutting, concrete pouring and cutting, masonry, painting and coating, plastering, and home remodeling services are considered minor construction activities. Often minor construction businesses perform work at numerous job sites – usually a business or home. Minor construction covers a broad range of activities that have the potential to generate pollutants. In general, activities that affect water quality include moving soil, fueling equipment such as power tools, and generating materials and waste during the construction process. The generation of materials and wastes are associated with dry/wet cutting of tiles, painting, pouring concrete, grouting, stucco operations and other outdoor activities. Best management practices must be implemented to prevent pollutants from entering the storm drain system.
