Nurseries
Nurseries grow and sell plants. They usually have greenhouses on site, but may simply care for plants that are raised off site. Nurseries engage in various activities that have the potential to generate pollutants, including: maintenance of irrigation systems, use of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. They often store large quantities of soil amendments including chemicals, dirt, bark, compost, and manure on site. Because plants and materials can be outdoors, runoff may carry chemicals, dirt, and debris off site. Appropriate best management practices must be implemented to ensure pollutants do not enter the storm drain.
